County Square Redevelopment: Follow the progress of this 40-acre South Downtown site as it is redeveloped into an urban environment designed to complement downtown with a mix of commercial, residential, public/institutional and service/industrial uses.

Downtown Conference Center and Mixed-Use Development: The City joins Greenville County and local developers to explore ways to increase the number of overnight visitor stays associated with attracting sizeable conferences, conventions, and meetings and believe there are many advantages to having a central space downtown to anchor Greenville’s growing tourist and cultural industry.

RECENTLY Completed Plans

South Downtown Master Plan: The City of Greenville hired Urban Design Associates, an international urban design and architecture firm headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to conduct a community workshop and study on connectivity in the South Downtown area of Greenville.

GVL2040 Comprehensive Plan: We had a citywide conversation about change, focusing on where we are now and where we want to go in the next 20 years. This plan guides elected officials, staff, planning board members and others when working with regulations, policies and projects that impact development and the quality of life in Greenville.

Swamp Rabbit Trail Extension Master Plan: The City of Greenville completed a master planning process in January 2021, to take a closer look at land use and opportunities for connections to the planned 4.5-mile extension of the Swamp Rabbit Trail from Cleveland Park to CU-ICAR.

2019 Wade Hampton Boulevard Strategic Plan: This plan examines the private sector and development opportunities along Wade Hampton Boulevard, from NorthPointe to the city limits near Pleasantburg Drive. View Page
